FLAC: David Bowie "The Legendary Lost Tapes" - 1CD

David Bowie
The Legendary Lost Tapes

Supposedly, the Trident tracks were recorded when Lou & David took a break from recording "Transformer" and join Mott while they were recording the "All The Young Dudes" album. The Glasgow Ziggy show is not complete and there are cuts between the tracks. It's the Mott session that makes this one worth listening to!

A high quality and nice selection of Bowie outtakes.

I felt it best to leave off I've Got Lightning as it has been released officially.

I added on the Philadelphia radio interview and a widened sound image mix of The Shadowman (using Audacity).

This is from a CD-R set I have, compiled from three shows - Ottawa 28th August 1987, Sydney 3rd November 1987, and Sydney 4th November 1987

Loving The Alien is particularly good here - nice flute at start + echo on Bowie's voice. Never Let Me Down and Big Brother seem worthy of mention too as standouts here too.

There is a sign of a little disc rot here and there - most noticeably as Modern Love starts. But it's a good compilation, and the 4th November 87 tracks seem harder to find - from what I've seen - than the rest here.

A very nice Japanese issue from the former DANCING HORSE label, now called SWITCH ON!.
The sound quality is excellent, and the songs are probably recorded from the original BBC tapes.
I don't think that the sound quality can get any better.
These tracks should have been on the never released BBC series Volume 2 & 3.

The second release of the birthday concert, and the best one too! The two bonus tracks are also very nice, even if they are available elsewhere The cover also gives a short description of the show and some of the songs performed. A very nice issue with excellent sound quality!

This is a little more than one hour from the Sound + Vision tour rehearsals taken directly from the soundboard. The date and venue are unknown, but generally thought to be New York in the winter of 1990. This is the so called "DAT version" of the recording, and is much better quality than the material used on the silver "Overtures And Beginners" CD.

JEMS master recording. Excellent sounding recording and performance. This recording captures Bowie on the second night of his Isolar world tour in support of the album Station To Station. This was Bowie at his most rocking before he would switch directions and move towards more experimental electronic music of the Berlin Trilogy to follow.
