this post includes the entire show of Tin Machine in Boston.
the reel's only been played maybe 3 times through and held
up well. in the words of Carter Alan, the host DJ for this
regional broadcast, David Bowie and the band looked and sounded
like they were doing what they wanted to be doing, not trying to
make a hit record. that's when David Bowie is his best, when he's
not trying to fit a style or a label. the band sounds very tight
and rockin' and David sounds like he's really glad to be in Boston.
this was one of the best shows Boston saw/heard in 1991 and the crowd
reaction was very enthusiastic (so was the performance).

Fix notes:

Only issue was on first song, where the sound was massively oversaturated - completely thrashed.
Issue was worse on left channel, so right channel copied over to make it mono.  Ran track through iZotope RX declipper tool to restore peaks, and then matched volume on later part of song to keep it consistent.
It's now listenable, but a distance from perfect.

Good sound. Security was real tight. Had my Sonic Studios mics under my shirt collar.  I was about 15ft in front of the speakers. Nonetheless, the sound came out sounding a bit muffled.  I did some EQ work on it to brighten it up so it turned out average for my taste.  This was a unique Earthling show, so that's why I made it.  There is some excess audience noise (screaming girls) for the 1st few songs, but then it settled down.  All in all,  it's not a bad CD. I have heard 'official factory CD' product that are worse.

Excellent Audience Recording

The complete second night in Toronto and it is in excellent sound quality. The cover is again (as the JUNGLE FEVER CD) rather sloppy, and the blurry picture inside it is really as bad as it can get! Both Toronto shows are great and quite long. This CD and the JUNGLE FEVER CD are both worth the money.

_____________________________________________________________
Surprisingly clear, given the source & the venue.

This was out for trade in about 2003.
The girl that taped it on an auto-reverse cassette recorder said she bought a new 100min metal tape for the job.

There is quite a bit of tape garble near the beginning, and some level adjustments during Quicksand lose a bit of the 2nd verse. Most of the garbled part clears up after Queen Bitch, and on the flip side, there is some garble during Look Back In Anger.

You can hear the tapers preparing for the tape flip during Fame, and they successfully push the auto-reverse between Fame & Satellites, losing virtually nothing. They don't record the applause, and shut off right after Little Wonder. There are a few other small dropouts, and spot in the beginning of V2 Schneider where the tape gets paused for a moment. Tape runs out in Dudes, but the entire show is essentially here. Great Job!

Unfortuantely, this came from a set of Flacs prepared for JBT called "The Man Who Sold The Eye" and and those had some really bad gaps near the beginning of every track and needed a lot of repair, as removing the silences still left it a bit bumpy. Repairs and retracking were done in Sound Studio. It sounds like a decent master transfer, but better lineage might reveal a slightly-improved version.

A really great performance, with some unusual fills from the band.
No one is bored here.

Excellent Audience Recording
The complete first "secret" club gig in London, a few days before the official Earthling Tour premiere. This night the show was split into two sets, one "normal" and one "drum'n'bass" set. The audience is very good during the first "normal" set, but looses interest during the second set. This was the reason to choose the drum 'n' bass set as the opening set for all the remaining club gigs. A wise decision! The sound quality of this audience recording is excellent. BASSMAN
David Bowie and the Story of Ziggy Stardust

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is arguably the most important album in the mind-blowing career of David Bowie. Released in 1972, it's the record that set the mercurial musician on course to becoming one of the best-known pop stars on the planet. In just over a year, Bowie's messianic Martian invaded the minds of the nation's youth with a killer combination of extraterrestrial rock 'n' roll and outrageous sexuality, all delivered in high-heeled boots, multi-coloured dresses and extravagant make-up. In Bowie's own words, Ziggy was 'a cross between Nijinsky and Woolworths', but this unlikely culture clash worked - Ziggy turned Bowie into stardust.

This documentary tells the story of how Bowie arrived at one of the most iconic creations in the history of pop music. The songs, the hairstyles, the fashion and the theatrical stage presentation that merged together to turn David Bowie into the biggest craze since the Beatles. Ziggy's instant success gave the impression that he was the perfectly-planned pop star. But, as the film reveals, it had been a momentous struggle for David Bowie to hit on just the right formula that would take him to the top.

Narrated by fan Jarvis Cocker, it reveals Bowie's mission to the stars through the musicians and colleagues who helped him in his unwavering quest for fame - a musical voyage that led Bowie to doubt his true identity, eventually forcing the sudden demise of his alien alter ego, Ziggy.

Contributors include Trevor Bolder (bass player, Spiders from Mars), Woody Woodmansey (drummer, Spider from Mars), Mike Garson (Spiders' keyboardist), Suzi Ronson (Mick Ronson's widow, who gave Bowie that haircut), Ken Scott (producer), Elton John (contemporary and fan), Lindsay Kemp (Bowie's mime teacher), Leee Black Childers (worked for Mainman, Bowie's production company), Cherry Vanilla (Bowie's PA/press officer), George Underwood (Bowie's friend), Mick Rock (Ziggy's official photographer), Steve Harley, Marc Almond, Holly Johnson, Peter Hook, Jon Savage, Peter Doggett and Dylan Jones.

Notes:
I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and these clips needed somewhere to live. Might be of some interest to others here as well.

The TV5 Acoustic show was unfortunately broadcast as 16:9 letterboxed inside a 4:3 display. It's a shame as it is a lovely bit of footage. Digitally recorded from Digital source (but not stream cap) it should be an upgrade for some of you.

All The Young Dudes from the IOW Festival was originally broadcast in 4:3. This one from last years coverage was in 16:9 and is also a stream cap. I know of the really nice US version from HD but for now this is the best of the PAL footage that I have.

The Hurricane coverage was recieved in trade but unfortunately, the audio sync was a long way out. I've done my best to get it somewhat nearer. Picture quality is very nice indeed but due to the high bitrate AC3 audio, you may need to up the volume control for this one. The combined bitrate is too high for fully compliant DVD spec. It works fine for me but if in doubt try a rewriteable first.
